We are looking for a postdoc interested in using single cell sequencing technologies to investigate malaria parasites, mosquito vectors, and vector/parasite interactions.
Malaria parasites are single celled organisms, and single cell technologies are revealing new levels of complexity in lab strains (see our preprint). At the Sanger Institute, we are now working towards a "Malaria Cell Atlas" that includes single cell RNAseq data from human malaria parasites across their lifecycle and mosquito tissues relevant for malaria transmission.
Given the wide span of projects, we are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who have expertise in any of the following areas: working with malaria parasites or mosquitoes in the lab or in the field, parasite or dipteran genomics, and/or computational analysis of single cell or transcriptomic data from any organism. Creativity and initiative are essential and the successful applicant will demonstrate dedication to leading this working collaboratively with a range of other scientists. - PhD in molecular biology, statistics, bioinformatics, genomics, population genetics or other relevant area of molecular or quantitative analysis (E)
