Mechanical Design Engineer (Materials Handling/special purpose machinery) Mechanical Design Engineer required to be responsible for all mechanical design drawings and production documentation for a range of the companies exciting and unique products. The job will involve working with a small design team, to ensure both business targets and project timescales can be achieved. This is a very important role within the company reporting to the Engineering Development manager. Salary: £34,000-36,000Benefits Skills - Advanced use of Inventor 3D and AutoCAD software packages for product design and assembly documentation - Ability in reading technical drawings, understanding part tolerances - Ability to document and update any required design changes - Ability to manage a project through and meet timescales - Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel packages - Degree or HNC/ HND in Mechanical Engineering - A Good Management skillset Experience - Graduate in mechanical engineering or related discipline (individuals with HNC and relevant industrial experience will be considered. - Experience working on mechanical systems and equipment - Competency in reading and understanding complicated engineering drawings and specifications. - Competency in production routes for a variation of steel components i.e. machining, heat treatment and painting. - Strong problem-solving skills. - A sound knowledge of computer assisted design using Solidworks 2D and 3D capabilities - An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles Role - Producing Solidworks 3D and 2D CAD mechanical designs, the projects are largely bespoke to suit the customer's needs. - Working within a small team you will have a good opportunity to take ownership of design projects, getting involved in new product development and liaising with the production team frequently. - You will be expected to have the capability of working to high engineering standards within budgets and timescales set by customers. - The main function will be to produce design related documentation inclusive of manufacturing drawings and supporting calculations where required - Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability. - Participate in the quality improvement process so that problems are tackled systematically and eliminated through continuous improvement. - Liaison with suppliers/client to ensure equipment is supplied in accordance with project requirements. - Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability.
