Company description: E.ON provides electricity and gas to millions of homes and businesses here in the UK. It’s incredibly complex work. It takes the talents of thousands of people to do what we do. Yet our vision is a simple one. We want to be the trusted energy partner for our customers. We’re doing that by making energy cleaner and simpler to understand. We’re also doing it by being genuinely helpful people and treating our customers fairly. Job description: We are looking for a Senior Credit Analyst, specialising in Data Science, Machine Learning and Predictive Modelling to join our team based in Nottingham. Senior Credit Analyst - Data Science/Machine Learning/Predictive Modelling Help us stay one step ahead This is a relatively new team, focused on identifying and prioritising areas where debt can be prevented before it arises, with significant scope for impact. In this role you will work with the operational business to understand their needs and translate these needs into analytical problems and then solutions. As a wider area we have end to end ownership of projects: from investigating raw data, acquiring external data, making data pipelines, deploying a model to production and designing trials. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas and expertise to help shape each of these areas. You will also play a key role in demonstrating the value of data products, data derived insights and data driven decision making to business stakeholders by telling engaging, audience-tailored stories through the development of exciting, interactive data visualisations and presentations. Our perfect candidate will be someone with extensive machine learning and credit risk modelling experience, with strong scientific instincts and knowledge of how to design and run experiments to quickly prove business cases. You will have significant experience within a data rich environment and a proven track record of applying data science techniques to complex problems. We use R for our predictive modelling and data visualisation (tidyverse, data.table, caret, shiny etc.) but are willing to consider alternative statistical software experience (Python, SAS, MATLAB etc.), especially if you have good practical experience working with data. You will also need to have experience with SQL, ideally Oracle/ANSI, for accessing our data. You will have the opportunity to influence companywide processes, policies and implementation plans (including our smart meter roll-out) with a view to reducing new debt inflows, increasing sustainable earnings and ensuring our customers are treated fairly. Required profile: As this is such a collaborative role, it’s vital that you can explain technical data clearly and interpret results in a meaningful and concise way. You’re going to be working with senior-level stakeholders and other analysts across the business so confidence, pragmatism and strong influencing skills are a must. You should be an excellent relationship builder; someone who can mentor and motivate others whilst also driving your own progression and taking your skills to the next level. What we need from you •Experience developing machine learning/predictive models, including the manipulation of large data sets, tuning algorithms and validating results. •Proficient in R or alternative statistical software such as Python, SAS, MATLAB etc. •Proficient in SQL, ideally Oracle/ANSI •Significant commercial experience or a degree in a numerate discipline – you’ll certainly need to have an A-level in Maths (or equivalent qualifications). •The ability to identify and solve problems by applying a creative, highly analytical approach and introducing imaginative solutions where no previous framework exists. •Curiosity, scepticism and attention to detail regarding data, data quality, samples, bias etc. •A creative mindset to contribute new ideas that will revolutionise the business. •Excellent communication skills – you’ll be able to summarise complex information for audiences at all levels and from a range of backgrounds. It would be great if you had •A background in credit risk What we’ll give you in return •2 for 1 pension contributions •Comprehensive flexible benefits scheme •Voluntary benefits – discount and cashback •Group Life Insurance •Personal Accident Insurance •Financial advice and guidance website Additional information This role is based in Nottingham. Due to the nature of this role a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check may be required. What we offer: This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/75315836
