Overview British Gas Business provides over 700,000 business customers with a modern way to buy, use and generate energy. We are looking for an exceptional Commercial Forecasting Analyst with experience of developing sales and portfolio plans, producing forecasting models and delivering insightful analysis and reports. The roles are within the UK Business SME Strategy & Portfolio team, at the heart of our decision-making engine and a great opportunity to gain skills and experience in a leading UK utility business. Location: Leicester Spinneyside Salary: Competitive Full time, permanent The Role You’ll work closely with a range of stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Digital, Commercial and Finance to develop and produce realistic and stretching commercial plans that support the relevant business strategies. Your day to day duties will include: Produce insightful analysis on our portfolio, product base, margin returns and customer behaviour to inform continuous improvement and performance management Build and refine forecasting models to give a view of expected short and long term performance in terms of customer numbers, customer consumption and margin return Use a variety of analytical tools and skills to interrogate our data and demonstrate trends, opportunities and risks which we can use to optimise our performance Be part of a high-performance culture and the centre of driving success for our business The Person For this role, we’re looking for someone who is a good communicator who can clearly and precisely explain analysis and the “so what”. We need someone with experience in building models and using these to help answer questions around performance and to forecast future scenarios. You’ll need to have strong analytical skills and commercial acumen with the ability to understand and articulate drivers of performance and underlying trends in data. You’ll also need strong capability in MS Office, especially MS Excel is essential. Knowledge of SQL is preferred, experience of other analytical packages (SAS, Alteryx, R) would also be favourable.
