THE ROLE: Working for an established and growing construction, civil engineering and highways contracting firm, as the Business Development Manager / Sales Manager you will play a vital role within the commercial management team. Working closely with the Marketing Manager and the MD, you will help develop sales and be an integral person helping to drive further commercial success. Your core duties will be to manage existing accounts and maximise the value of these customers; establishing current and future needs so that the company can be "ahead of the game" when it comes to supplying future projects in the highways and civil engineering markets. Alongside managing current business, you will also be tasked with building the client portfolio; targeting new customers andestablishing new relationships toachieve short, medium and long term sales growth. Using your strong commercial acumen and ability to build relationships within the highways, civil engineering and construction markets, you will be empowered and encouraged to implement your own sales strategies to achieve the goals of this small but fast growing organisation. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Essentially we are looking for strong minded, driven and strategic business development managers or sales managers to apply. You must have experience within the civil engineering and/or construction market. You will have a successful sales background selling within the construction industry. Suitable backgrounds include plant hire, contracting services, construction products, labour supply or other product/services specifically targeting the construction, civil engineering or highways sector. This role requires someone who can be influential within a small company and although largecorporate backgrounds will be considered, a proven success within an SME is preferred. As a person, you will be able to thrive working on your own initiative however it is absolutely essential that you will be able to work within a small commercial team to help spearhead success towards a common goal. You will be confident in communicating with clients using all methods and be able to pitch/present to perspective clients within the civil engineering / construction markets. Notably you will be a business development manager who can forward plan and show initiative in identifying future projects and contractors to target. Ideally you will have worked and have relationships with the major and smaller civil engineering contractors in the UK.
