Reports to: Home Manager Role Description: To provide care/support and follow the specific individual plans of the young people living within the homes owned and managed by Creative Care UK and follow guidelines set out by the Company and Health related professionals. Main Duties and Responsibilities To ensure you follow the necessary guidelines set out in relation to the running of a young people’s home and correctly maintain the necessary paperwork. To follow the instructions of your Home Manager to the best of your ability and ensure your whereabouts are known at all times whilst on duty. To ensure the Company’s equal opportunities policy is followed at all times by yourself and other people either working or living within the home To ensure any specific policies on the control and management of Company or young people’s finances are followed and recorded as required. To ensure you understand that while working for the Company you have a responsibility to maintain a professional image while out in the community. To ensure that the confidentiality of all information relating to the young people and running of the home is maintained at all times. Staff Development and Training To ensure you carry out your duty to attend training put in-place for your career development by Creative Care. To ensure you attend and participate in the induction and supervision sessions set up and operated by the Company during your employment. To understand and recognise your limitations as a member of staff and actively seek conformation on issues you are not sure about. Creative Care EM Ltd operates a Reflective Practice Policy and believes this is important for staff development across all levels. Team Working To work as part of a team ensuring you follow and contribute to the ethos of Creative Care EM. This includes information sharing with colleagues not necessarily on your shift pattern. Personal Care Related Duties To help and support the young people when necessary with the personal care issues such as bathing, teeth cleaning etc as set out in their individual care and support plans. To help and support young people make suitable choices with regards to clothing and aid young people in dressing when required as set out in their care and support plans. To ensure such clothing is presentable and maintained. i.e. ironed and clean. To aid young people use any specific equipment that is necessary for their general day-to-day care and support. To ensure any dirty or soiled clothing, bedding etc is cleaned properly and replaced back in the correct room or storage closet. To ensure that young people’s possessions are treated with respect at all times as you would your own. To assist young people in accessing activities both in the home and out in the community. To assist young people with any specific requirements set out in their individual care/support plans including the management of behaviour when necessary. To assist young people to communicate with those around them as set out in their individual care/support plans. To assist young people in maintaining positive relationships with friends and family where appropriate. To ensure that the young people are treated with the respect, compassion and care that they deserve at all times. To assist when required in the administration of medication ensuring this is documented properly. To ensure the young people receive a healthy and well balanced diet, meeting any cultural or religious needs if applicable. To assist young people in accessing health related services such as dentists, G.P’s and hospitals etc. Safety and Specific Policy Duties and Responsibilities To ensure young people are aware and informed of the homes fire precautions and policy, including any fire evacuation drills and fire alarm tests etc. To ensure such tests and drills are recorded in the appropriate manner. To ensure the Company’s separate Health and Safety Policy is adhered to, passing on any concerns you may notice to the designated Health and Safety Officer. To follow, record and update identified safety and risk assessments on a day to day basis for the safety and well being of the young people. To report any incidents or accidents ensuring any necessary paperwork forms are completed and signed before you leave the premises. To ensure the health and well being of the young people is maintained at all times reporting any concerns you may have at the earliest opportunity. To ensure safety and well being of the young people living within the home reporting any act of suspected abuse or mismanagement to your line manager at the earliest opportunity. To comply with driving related rules as set out in the Company’s employee Handbook and the separate Health and Safety Documentation. To comply with all smoking related rules especially with regard to smoking in the presence of service users. When using a Company vehicle, maintain them at all times reporting any areas of concern e.g. Broken lights etc to a senior manager. To ensure while in the Company vehicles that the young people are appropriately seated and secured. To ensure the Company vehicles are driven safely following the highway code at all times, reporting any misconduct in this area to the senior management at the earliest opportunity. To report any driving offences you may have to the management before driving a Company vehicle as this may impact on the insurance cover required. To ensure any specific policies on the control and management of Company or young people’s finances are followed and recorded as required. To ensure you understand that while working for Creative Care EM you have a responsibility to maintain a professional image whilst out in the community. To ensure that the confidentiality of all information relating to the young people and running of the home is maintained at all times. Liaison & Reporting Reporting directly to the Care Home Manager(s) and in liaison with MD and Office Manager. Team Leader Duties To lead the shift and to ensure the whereabouts of all staff and young people is known To hand over any relevant information or instruction to the incoming shift and to pass on any information or instruction to staff from the outgoing shift To ensure the safety and well being of all To ensure that all activities that have been set by the Home Manager are carried out To liaise with the ‘on-call’ Manager if there are any issues within the unit or with any of the young people To complete all paperwork relevant to the young people and their daily activities and you are also required to ensure other staff complete their paperwork Maintain Petty Cash system and record all expenditure on Petty Cash Sheets To have responsibility for the main set of keys to the unit and also responsibility to ensure that all other sets of keys are accounted for at the end of the shift. General Duties Maintain your working area in a clean and professional condition. Maintain professional standards in both personal appearance and behaviour. Maintain strict company and employee confidentiality at all times. Report immediately to the company, any matter that you believe transgresses either Health & Safety, or other employment regulations. Report any damage to company property, howsoever caused, to a member of Management as soon as possible. Follow all other rules and procedures with regard to attendance and absence reporting. Other Duties You may be required at times to carry out various other duties within your capabilities. If requested to carry out any duty that you feel may be outside your capability you should report this fact to your immediate superior before attempting the task.
