Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role:

Project Engineer for the model based development of control software for next generation industrial and heavy machinery engines to evolve new features such as multi-fuel and those required to adhere to increasingly stringent emissions requirements. You will be a member of a small but multi-skilled development team working on diverse projects with direct influence over some of our client's most complex products. Some foreign travel may be required to end customer installations.

Area of Responsibility

- Work with development partner teams to identify and document control systems requirements
- Iteratively develop sub-system control strategies using Mathworks toolset providing stages delivery.
- Co-ordinate with other development teams worldwide.
- Troubleshoot electronics and control system issues as required.
- Conduct control system calibration activities on test benches where appropriate.
- Contribute to system/software FMEAs

Knowledge / Experience

- You will need substantive experience and knowledge in the area of model based embedded system development, preferably with exposure to one of the following domains - diesel engine control systems,
- off-highway machine controls
- marine control systems
- military vehicle control systems
- other safety related automotive controls systems

- You have deep knowledge and hands-on experience of using the Mathworks toolchain to create embedded software components.

- You will have a demonstrable understanding of relevant control system physical components.

- You will have a solid understanding of the principles of diesel engine control or specific complex sub-systems or other electro-mechanical vehicle systems.

- You will have professional experience working to a defined process developing safety related systems and understand the primary disciplines required to deliver well defined, low defect software.

- You will have exposure to one or more of the following domains - diesel engine control systems,
- off-highway machine controls
- marine control systems
- military vehicle control systems
- other safety related automotive controls systems

- Demonstrable professional experience with some or all of the following - Mathworks tools (Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, RealTime Workshop)
- Configuration tools (GIT, clearcase)
- dSpace HiL test equipment
- Calibration Tool e.g. CANape
- C programming language

- Experience working with a range of communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, Lin, Flexray).

- Knowledge of On board - Off Board Diagnostics and associated protocols (J1939, UDS etc.)

- Awareness of traditional and contemporary development processes (waterfall, v-model, agile) would be valuable.
