Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Project Engineer - Plant Model Development to be based at our customer's office in Peterborough.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role:

You will join our growing on-site team as a project Engineer developing physical models to support the model based development and test of control software for next generation industrial and heavy machinery engines. Representative and efficient representations of the environment within which the control system sits are required to provide an environment for the efficient development and test of the control system. The task will include a variety of modelling challenges from complex chemical and physical systems to mechanical actuator characteristics.

Area of Responsibility

- Develop and\or optimise existing simulation models for engine processes and components.
- Debug and validate model performance in the required environment (desktop simulation or realtime on HiL system)
- Liase with customer engineers and experts to discern critical characteristics of simulation.

Knowledge / Experience

- Strong knowledge of simulation tools

- You will have a demonstrable understanding of relevant control system physical components

- You will have a solid understanding of the principles of diesel engine control or specific complex sub-systems or other electro-mechanical vehicle systems.

- You will have professional experience working to a defined process developing safety related systems and understand the primary disciplines required to deliver well defined, low defect software.

- You will have exposure to one or more of the following domains - diesel engine control systems,
- off-highway machine controls
- marine control systems
- military vehicle control systems
- other safety related automotive controls systems

- Demonstrable professional experience with some or all of the following - Mathworks tools (Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, RealTime Workshop)
- Configuration tools (GIT, clearcase)
- dSpace HiL test equipment
- Calibration Tool e.g. CANape
- C programming language

- Experience working with a range of communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, Lin, Flexray).

- Knowledge of On board - Off Board Diagnostics and associated protocols (J1939, UDS etc.)

- Awareness of traditional and contemporary development processes (waterfall, v-model, agile) would be valuable.
